This is where Pollen encounters his first human on earth.  He observes this old man holding a tired raccoon while he is crying.  Pollen doesn’t yet understand why humans cry and he is curious. Pollen loves to learn anything and everything; he wants to know it all.  But even at this first moment Pollen senses that the old man is sad and totally frustrated and in need of special help.  And even though the old man will never ask for it, Pollen is totally willing to give it.  Sometimes help is given even when it is not asked for.  This is what makes Pollen ‘special’.
